Lively Trips to Sidari and Kavos in Corfu
July 4th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Corfu is an island paradise offering spectacular rugged cliffs on the western coast, numerous resorts, splendid beaches sprinkled with parasols and sunloungers, picturesque villages , fertile valleys, verdant forests and mountains to the north with sweeping views of the island, mainland Greece, Albania and even Italy (from Mount Prantokrator) on a clear day. There are plenty of options when it comes to taking in the sights of Corfu island. If you’re seeking a truely extraordinary and romantic Greek island destination then you’re sure to be seduced by the holiday paradise of Corfu. In addition to the relaxing resorts Corfu also features some lively resorts such as Kavos, Sidari and Kassiopi.

If you are yearning for a full fortnight of sun and sand and you like to party by night and relax by day then the town of Kavos in the south is right up your street. The place is packed with bars and clubs … and the bars and clubs are brimming with people whose idea of a great time is likely to match your own. In Kavos, holidays neatly divide into two time zones – under-the-sun and after-dark. For the former there’s a striking sandy beach extending five miles from end to end – so an abundance of sun bathing places there. If you possess the energy to get active, there are watersports from pedaloes to parasailing. And while the beach is fairly cramped, its gentle slope into the Med gives you broad shallows – excellent for lazy on a lilo.

The resort also has plenty of little shops, more than you’ll ever need, offering loads of shopping options with everything from sun hats to coffee cups. In addition there are a few traditional tavernas, there are an abundance of cafes faultless for grabbing some fast food or to try out an English breakfast – whenever you wake. So eating can be very cheap. Kavos really kicks off after dark though. You need to pace yourself in the clubs, pubs and bars if you adore partying till the small hours. For twosomes on holiday to Kavos, the San Marina Hotel ticks those boxes. If you’re looking for a last minute holiday to Kavos, there are usually an array of bargains.

At the north eastern end of the island there are also an abundance of resorts to suit every taste. The town of Kassiopi is really lively but not to the same degree as of Kavos. The tempo rises after dark when the youngsters troop to music bars and the traditionalists find an authentic taverna for dining and holiday talk. Just around the north coast is the town of Sidari Corfu which offers clubs, bars, pubs and restaurants galore and an abundance of choices to help you party dusk-till-dawn. It is fair to say that Corfu offers a holiday option to suit all tastes.
