Things to Deliberate When Bringing Home A Precious New Kitten
Mar 21st, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Cats tend to desire to potty in the gravel or dirt where they might scratch. In addition cute little kittens start to learn from their mother, so by the time your kitty is ready to be brought to your house utilizing a litter box will plausibly feel familiar to her. She will likely need a little steering however.

Kitties are personal about their litter box habits so be sure you place the litter box in a peaceful place that the kitten can readily enter. When you bring her home take her over to the litter box and place her in it. She will probably jump out yet that’s okay. You want to get her familiar with it. It’s good to put her in the litter box a few times a day until you notice she is using it regularly. If you notice her using it step back and let her have her privacy.

Cats most often begin using the litter box pretty promptly, but if for some cause your kitten isn’t using it do not admonish her. This may befuddle her or cause stress which might lead to other problems. Rather than reprimand it’s best to clean the mess well and start setting her in the litter box more oftentimes until she starts getting the hang of it.

If she continues to mess outside of the litter box observe to catch if she is either straining to potty or has diarrhea. These could be signs of a medical issue which may be causing the litter box issues. In this case you must consult your vet.

You’ll have much greater luck litter coaching your kitten if you keep the litter box in a quiet area where the kitten feels safe. Keep the litter box away from high traffic areas and apart from noisy appliances. The litter box also must be convenient, so if you have multiple floors in your home you should keep a litter box on every floor. And keep all litter boxes apart from the cat’s feeding area. Not unlike humans cats don’t like to go to the potty where they eat.

I hope this helps you get a good start with your new kitten. But if anything goes awry, you might look for additional information on learning how to clean urine when your kitty makes a mistake.. I know it can be an unpleasant subject, but understanding how to deal with cat spraying may be vital to you and your beloved kitty’s peace.

You must keep one litter box for each kitty plus one extra. I know this might be problematic in little houses or apartments so at least have one litter box per feline.
