RNs Can Advance Their Career
Mar 30th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Many RNs go into management, but usually they first have to hold a BSN (bachelors of science degree in nursing). Since many nurses start their career by completing an associates degree in nursing or a diploma program many end up choosing from several rn to bsn programs to help advance their career.

When an average person thinks about nursing careers they may think about a registered nurse in a hospital assisting a patient or the nurse they see on a regular doctors visits. But that is not all registered nurses can do in their career.

Today it is very common for RNs who hold an associates degree to return to school to earn an advanced degree in order to advance their career. Once they have completed that degree they may have a better chance of entering the management side of nursing.

Besides management RNs have other career choices beside the traditional registered nursing career. Many decide to enter the world of legal nursing.

Legal nursing consulting is a popular career choice for many RNs who may want to be more independent and have their own clients. They generally use their medical knowledge and learn the legal side of things to bridge the gap in legal/medical cases.

Another career field that may be considered somewhat popular among RNs is that of a case manager. Case management positions are in demand so it is somewhat common to hear about people going back to school in order to get trained to become a case manager.

Be a Smart Shopper with Coupons
Mar 30th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Everywhere these days there are signs of the crumbling economy. And while the optimists are forecasting the light at the end of the tunnel the reports as yet do not back their predictions. Right now the economy is affecting us all. What can we do?

Well there are ways to save money that many of us have not taken advantage of in the past. We’ve all heard about the savvy coupon clippers who end up walking out of Albertsons with a cartload full of food, cleaning supplies and other necessities for the cost of mere pennies compared to the regular prices. But how do they do it?

Well it is not nearly as difficult or time consuming as you may imagine. Yes, of course it does take planning. It does take a little bit of time and yes it does take knowing how, what, when and where. That would be how, what, when and where to get coupons, how, what, when and where to shop and just how, what, when and where to really get smart about saving your hard-earned money.

Did you know that you can find Albertsons grocery coupons, coupon games, coupons for specific stores and printable grocery coupons for just about anything you might want online? There are many, many sites devoted to helping you find the coupons that will serve you best. With a computer and a printer you can find the best coupons available anywhere.

Also, there is the old favorite, the Sunday newspaper. Since the Sunday newspaper is usually the one with the most entertainment value, many people enjoy the Sunday edition more than any other, but also the Sunday edition is the one that has the most coupons. If you need an excuse to always get the Sunday paper to enjoy, the coupon savings is your answer. Redplum and Smart Source usually provide the coupons for the paper and while we all enjoy the Sunday paper if by chance you happen to miss it you can always go to redplum.com or smartsource.com and print out what you missed.

One of the keys to saving big while using groceries coupons is to plan your list. Don’t buy something you normally would not purchase just because you have a coupon. While a coupon may be a wonderful incentive to try something new if you are just buying because you have a coupon you will end up spending more than you wanted to.

Also, sometimes a coupon will not end up saving you as much as it would by buying otherwise. For example, if you have a coupon for $1.00 off a name brand item but the store brand is actually selling for 1.25 less, the coupon will actually end up costing you .25 more. Now if you have loyalties to brands you may consider it to be worth it. However, many times the store brands are of equal quality and just as good as the name brand. So consider the reasons why you purchase a certain item, is it because you have a loyalty to a certain brand, or is it because you just want an equivalent product? If the goal is to save money, determine what your priorities are. Either priority is fine but the question is what is it that you want?

You can also take advantage of in-store specials, double coupon days and store coupons. Many times you can combine coupons with other offers or even other coupons and end up making the maximum savings.

With a computer with Internet access, a little planning and some savvy shopping strategies you too, can become successful at using coupons and saving money.

And with the current economy that can help everyone!

Darlo Kids Football
Mar 30th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

I would just like to let people know about the great junior football teams that play in and around Darlington . Co Durham. In no particular order we have Mount Pleasant Rangers ,Darlington TSC , Middleton Rangers , 21st Allstars and Spraire Lads and Lasses

I have found a great Darlington football site that allows the parents , coaches or even the players to give their match reports or even just to write their thoughts on the local game down. Lots of freindly banter and the like, each team believing they are the best and many reasons why they should have won on that cold wet day at the end of December.

Having been a parent and supporter for many years I appreciate how much effort that all the coaches put into the training of the children .It is not just about the hour or so training on Saturday and the game on the Sunday. They are the ones that have to arrange the matches ,transport all the kit and ringing around the parents. Then comes the hard part I am sure who is playing where and that never goes down well with the parents as we all have a budding striker and none of us really want our child at the back or even worse in goal .Where is the glory in that strikers tend to get the cheers and the defenders should have managed to get a foot to it.

That is until the team has been together a few years and everybody realises football is a team game and only if everyone is doing their job whatever that may be will the team have a chance of doing well

Crawl Space Encapsulation Is More than Pest Prevention
Mar 30th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

In many areas of the pest management industry today, exterminators are following up on their work by encapsulating the crawl space to prevent crawl space mold. Encapsulating a crawl space involves sealing all crawl space vents and doors with airtight covers, covering the crawl space walls and floors with a durable plastic for water crawl space liner, and, in the case of block foundation walls, adding a plastic covering over the open cavities of the blocks to keep humidity from filtering upwards through the crevice. In some cases, the contractor may complete the job with a crawl spaces dehumidifier to remove residual humidity, or a crawl space sump pump if there’s been a history of flooding.

Why are pest management professionals encapsulating crawl spaces? By sealing off the crawl space vents and doors, they prevent those from serving as access points for infestations of insects and animals that could reenter the space, causing problems in the area. And lining the crawl space walls and floor with a polyethylene liner will also help to deter pests, such as subterranean termites, beetles, and carpenter ants, from entering the space through the foundation or floor.

A crawl space moisture barrier, in combination with a crawl space sump pump and dehumidifier when needed, will create a dry, healthier crawl space. By removing humidity, the environment can become inhospitable to mold, dust mites, rot, and certain pests, such as the American Cockroach. Foul, mildewy smells are reduced, and the smells of the animals, that live, create waste, and die in the area will be gone.

Crawl space encapsulation of a dirt or concrete crawl space- especially a vented one- will make the space much more energy-efficient. By sealing off the vents, winter cold and summer heat are kept out of the space. Cold winter air on furnaces, hot water pipes, and heating ducts located in the crawl space forces them to work harder just to maintain status quo, and a cold crawl space means a cold floor above. In the summer, heat and humidity enter the space, where the humid air condensates on the wood and metal or travels upwards into the home. Humid air is much harder to cool than dry air, and therefore more expensive to condition.
