The Benefits of Matching Tasks With Moods
Apr 3rd, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Have you ever had one of those days where you don’t seem to be able to do anything without it feeling like a struggle?

You’ve got a website to update, new products to source, a free newsletter to write and you also want to write some promotional articles for the article directories to generate some more traffic.

But even though all these things are equally important you just can’t seem to get going. You’re in one of those moods that make it feel like you’re wading through treacle to even get close to getting anything done.

Negative About Your Business?

When you feel like this it’s hard not to feel dejected and negative about your internet business. Internet marketing is supposed to be exciting, liberating and dynamic - but at times like these it’s hard to see how that can possible be true.

In the end you have two options at a time like this:

• You can try and work through it
• You can stop and do something else

There is also a third option available though - you can try and match your tasks with your moods to get even more out of your day and be even more productive in every task you do. It could well mean an end to those horrible occasions where all you do is sit there staring at your computer screen. This is a trick I have learned from the motivational guru: Kurek Ashley

The key is to figure out what you do best when you are in certain frames of mind. If you find it easier to focus first thing in the morning when you’re feeling awake and refreshed, pick a more in depth project to get stuck into - planning the outline of a new e-book perhaps?

Alternatively if you find you get easily distracted during the afternoon - thanks to that post lunch lull - allocate lots of small tasks to plough through. Reply to emails, change a few keywords on your website, surf the internet to find new and useful sites that could help your business.

Keeping A Journal

It’s worth keeping some kind of journal for a couple of weeks to see whether there is a real pattern to your moods. If there is then it’s far easier to slot new tasks in as and when they arise. If not, you might just have to wing it, but at least you’ll know how to handle those different frames of mind when they strike.

If there isn’t a real pattern to follow then you can always tackle the problem from the other side by creating more than one list of jobs to refer to. As and when you feel like doing a particular kind of job you can simply refer to your list and choose the best one for that moment.

The great thing about being an internet marketer is that the tasks involved in creating and building a successful business are many and varied. Not only does this help guard against boredom, it also means there will always be at least one job you feel ready to tackle.

All of which leads to less downtime and more result for you, your website and your marketing efforts.

The Case For Alternative Forms of Energy
Apr 3rd, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Record high prices at American gas pumps and continued global strife in the Middle East, Russia, Nigeria, and other areas of importance to the oil-driven economy have made it clear to Americans that we are in need of developing many new avenues of alternative energy. In short, we need to reduce our dependency on oil, for it is ultimately finite and, frankly, the cheap sources of oil (not all oil—just the stuff that is cheap to remove from the earth) are running out.

Energy consultants and analysts are insistent that cheap oil has “peaked” or is very soon going to peak.  What this means for us is an expensive future—unless we can find new sources of powering our mechanized and electronic civilization. In other words, we need alternative energy ideas.

We must also switch to alternative forms of energy because our present forms are too damaging to the atmosphere. While it is still debatable that the global warming trend is sustained by the activities of mankind, we certainly do contribute at present to the destruction of the environment and to things like air pollution with our energy sources as they are.

Coal is another source of energy that we need to wean ourselves off of — again, it is finite, and it is filthy, and the mining of it is dangerous and environmentally disruptive. We can also explore new streamlined methods for producing electricity that we presently generate so much of via hydro-power so that we are less disruptive of the environment when we have need of constructing things such as large dams.

Developing nations which have turned industrialized in recent decades especially will need the benefits of alternative energy research and development, for they are presently doing much more environmental damage than the United States. The United States, Japan, and some European nations have been implementing studies into and programs for the development of alternative energy sources, and are therefore already leading the way in doing less environmental damage.

Developing nations such as China and India need to look to Japan and the West as examples of what research and development to give government backing and private investment currency to. We could also add great robustness to our own economy by being at the forefront of such alternative energy sources development and then marketing the technologies and services to nations like India, China, and Brazil..

Biofuels from things like “supertrees” and soybeans, refined hydroelectric technology, natural gas, hydrogen fuel cells, the further building of atomic energy plants, the continued development of solar energy photovoltaic cells, more research into wind-harnessed power—all of these are viable energy sources that can act as alternatives to the mammoth amounts of oil and coal that we presently are so dependent on for our very lifestyles. The energy of the future is green.

Clean Hardwood Floors With Floor Buffer
Apr 3rd, 2009 by Lucy Katts

You can’t start the cleaning of your floors if you do not know what kind of flooring you have, so that is the first thing to do. A surface sealed floors do not need much care at all, and if you have a new sealed floor, chances are you have one of those installed. In case you have an older floor, you most likely have penetrating seal treated floor. Oils and waxes will have to be used to properly care for thisfloor type.

For cleaning hardwood floors, in the case of a surface sealed floor, you merely need to mop using a product recommended by your flooring manufacturer. Products like Oil Soap solution (which don’t generally contain oil) are usually safe. Some soap and one damp mop are a good solution for this floor tyoe. Since wood floors can be damaged with sitting water, you have to dry the surface completely when you finish your task.

If you have a penetrating seal treated floor, you will not be able to mop with water-based products. You can instead use vacuum or sweep your floor. Old wax will have to be stripped and new coating will be added, so your floor can have deeper cleaning. You choose how many times you want to do this task, but once or twice a year is the usual number.

Stripper needs to be used and you should also make sure to follow the directions. For your hardwood floors to dry properly you need to have good ventilation. Now you can buy some wax that can be applied on your wood floor and you are ready. Follow directions and apply one or two coats, or as many as desired.

Tile floor scrubber machine needs to be used in this last, very important step. You will have to use this process so that the wax can sink in properly and the floor can be sealed and shiny. Many homeowners buy or rent home floor buffer polisher, because it shortens the time needed for the job. You may be interested in knowing that by purchasing the hardwood floor buffer machine, it will pay for itself after just three to four cleanings.
