First Steps In Learning How to Cook It’s Not as Hard as You Think!
Oct 17th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

My mother-in-law is such a good cook. You need not wait to taste anything that comes out of her kitchen, all you need to do is to look at my husband and his siblings who are all a bit on the stocky side and you’ll know immediately how good she cooks!

Amazingly, when my husband and I were still dating, she fondly told me that at the time she got married, she didn’t even know how to use the stove. But the desire to please her husband won over her fear of using the stove and from then on she learned to cook succulent dishes that made her kids happy and bursting with health.

If you happen to find yourself in the same situation, you don’t have to worry. After all, cooking is a skill that you can learn. And just like any other skill, the way you develop it is by allotting time and energy into practicing it.

Buy a cook book - You need not enroll in cooking schools or short courses. All you need to do is to buy a cook book, if you’re very frugal and would rather use your money on other things, you can simply opt to download recipes or copy recipes in magazines. Make sure you follow the measurements and the instructions, when you become more proficient you can then try to experiment.

Watch someone you know to be a good cook while he/she is cooking. You don’t have to look farther. You may have someone in your family who is very good with cooking a certain dish that you like. Ask if he/she can teach you how to make the recipe. I’m certain they will not mind and will even enjoy your company and the helping hand you are able to offer.

It’s all about just getting started with something. Just decide and do you will find it;’s much easier than you think. There is no such word as ‘can’t cook’ but there is as ‘won’t try’!
