How To Print Laser Labels
Dec 6th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

Printing high quality self-adhesive labels on a laser printer is simple. All you need to do is to place them in the paper tray so they will print portrait, set your printer software on the “labels” setting and then print as usual. For better positioning of the print you can use the media bypass slot usually positioned above the paper tray, this reduces the number of rollers the label sheet passes through and helps to prevent the print from slewing left at the top and right at the bottom of the A4 label sheet.

The labels setting on your printer driver software is usually in the “settings” or “properties” section, and these options are on that rather annoying page that pops up every time you print something. Some of the more expensive or modern laser printers have auto sensing, which means they automatically sense the thickness of the media they are loaded with.

You do have to print A4 labels in a portrait direction; this is because, like wood, paper has a grain direction. The grain direction is from the top to the bottom of the sheet rather than side to side. The effect of this is that the paper is stronger along its length; this means that the labels are better supported on the backing paper and less likely to peel off the backing paper during printing.

Laser printers are not designed to print labels, they are designed to print thinner A4 sheets, so it is always a wise idea to read the printer manufacturer’s manual to find out what they advise for label printing. To enable the printers to print labels well you need to use laser labels made from laser grade paper and cut in a layout that also reduces the chances of separation from the backing during printing. Laser grade paper has a specified smoothness so that the laser toner can attain the resolution you need.

Laser labels also have a particular water content this is essential and helps the toner to key into the paper when it goes through the fuser in your printer. (The fuser is like a heated mangle with the paper passing between two rollers one of which is heated.) If the labels dry out then the laser print will smudge so always keep unused labels in their packaging. Laser labels also have a [particular|certain} type of backing paper which gives enough friction so that the rollers in the printer can move it accurately.

How to Select the Correct Custom Subwoofer Enclosure for Your Vehicle
Dec 6th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

There is little doubt that anything will improve a car or truck’s sound system more then adding a good quality car audio subwoofer. As you might guess, good sound quality will depend upon selecting the correct subwoofer for your specific vehicle. The shopper really has to spend some time doing research and deciding exactly what type of sound he wants to create.

The shopper first should decide upon what size subwoofer he wants to install. Through the years, I’ve met many shoppers after they had made the wrong decision and were unhappy with the results. While car audio subwoofers are available today in sizes from six to fifth teen inches in diameter, shoppers are sometimes surprised at the volume produced by even the smallest of subs. Nothing will effect the subwoofer’s performance more then matching it to the correct enclosure.
Available space usually dictates the size sub box that can be installed. The best vehicle installations usually include a custom subwoofer enclosure. A custom-fit subwoofer enclosure is a sub box that has been made to fit in an “out of the way” location and usually results in a factory look when installed.

If budget minded, you can also search for standard or truck subwoofer boxes. Your choice of sealed or ported will be governed by the specifics of the subwoofer you select. To select the correct sub box, check your subwoofer’s specs. While ported enclosures generally produce louder bass, they also require more space then sealed boxes. So measure your install area first, match a subwoofer that you like to the boxes volume or air space.

After the selection of sub and enclosure, you have to find an appropriate subwoofer amplifier. Again you have to check your subwoofer’s spec sheet to determine the proper power requirements. This all might sound like a lot of work but the results are well worth the effort. As you might guess, there are several variables in the selection process that I can’t discuss here. 5 GOOD REASONS A SELF-EMPLOYED PROFESSIONAL SHOULD TAKE VACATION
Dec 6th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

So you think you’re not justified in taking time away from your business because you’re self-employed? Here are five great reasons why you should definitely take a vacation:

1. Physical down time
You work hard to grow and maintain your business. Trying to be superhuman will certainly take its toll if you allow it to. Give your body a break by taking in some R&R.

2. Mental down time
Your days are filled with busy, sometimes even hectic, day-to-day activities related to your business. If you don’t allow yourself to get away from it once in a while, your peace of mind and general well-being will most definitely suffer. Get out and play. Your mind will thank you!

3. Spend time with loved ones
Your family and friends see you working, working, working, sometimes rarely coming up for air. Both you and they will appreciate spending some quality time together.

4. See the world (or your own back yard)
The important thing is to do something you enjoy, whether it’s traveling or, if that’s not your cup of tea or you don’t have the budget for it, spend time at home. If you also work out of your home, this could be challenging. The key is to stay out of your office during your vacation time. Try getting creative with this. Make your office “off limits” by closing the door and placing a sign on it. Do whatever it takes to keep your mind off working. How about a hobby or a day trip to the beach? Think of what you can do within your budget that’s fun. Or do nothing at all!

5. You have a life
Although this one is a no-brainer, it surprises me how many small business owners don’t feel as if they deserve time off. There is too much to do, and not enough hours in the day to get it all done. Well, I’ve got news for you. It’s always going to feel that way! Only you have the power to allow yourself time off. Even if you prefer only to take a day here and a day there instead of a week-long (or longer) vacation each year, that’s a whole lot better than never taking time off. Trust me, you’ll feel better about yourself and your work if you take regular vacation time. You’ll be healthier, too!

Are Most Herbal Colon Cleansers The Same?
Dec 6th, 2009 by Lucy Katts

A herbal colon cleanse is a perfectly safe and very gentle process for eliminating built up toxins and undigested fecal matter, cleansing and restoring the large intestine, or colon.

The overly refined foodstuffs that you eat every single day, especially sugary and flour based foods, make you more susceptible to real intestinal problems, increasing your risk of contracting all kinds of other diseases.

Ensuring you have a properly functioning, healthy intestinal tract is vitally important to your overall general health.

Though many experts would disagree it is becoming more and more apparent with volumes of evidence that a colon cleanse program is a natural remedy effectively formulated to detoxify, cleanse and overhaul your digestion.

Thousands of happy consumers will tell you that a colon cleanse is beneficial and colon cleansing is taking the detox world by storm.

Virtually all herbal colon cleansers are made up of 100% natural ingredients. It should be noted however that most colon cleansers will not work well without drinking plenty of water too.

The effect of these products is to dissolve stagnant waste in the colon allowing it to be passed. Always bear in mind that often these products are so good it’s necessary to replenish the good bacteria in your gut afterwards. A big pot of natural yogurt will do the trick.

There are many popular colon cleansers on the market today and to be honest there is little difference in the composition of most of them. We have used and recommend the product linked to on this site.
